Story
Set in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, this is the story of the small village of Covington (population 60) surrounded
by a woods inhabited by a race of "mythical creatures," and the romance that blossoms between Kitty (Greer), the daughter
of the town's leader (Hurt), and Lucius (Phoenix), a young man who questions the policy of keeping Covington's citizens completely
confined to the village.
High Points
The high points in this film really can't be listed. I mean Shyamalan does an excellent job as he always
does. The acting deserves mention...which I found William Hurt's preformance to be one of my most favorite of the year. Adrien
Brody also did a nice job as Noah...but nothing really too groundbreaking. I did enjoy the ending...though the plot twist
about the creatures was expected. Overall this is a wonderful and well made film.
Low Points
...I'd have to say the only low points I found regarding this film...were a few of the lines. Some of them
gave off hints...and though it may have been intended...I don't think they should have been there.
This is a wonderful film...and was well worth my 3.50, I give The Village
a B++
